That the Minutes of the Sea Eels Annual General Meeting held on 05 May 2023, as published on the HSP Surf Club website, be confirmed5

  1. Matters Arising From 2024 Annual General Meeting
  • WSAA Affiliation

That affiliation with the Winter Swimming Association of Australia (W.S.A.A) continue for this 2025 season. The date for this year’s WSAA Championships is Sunday 21 September 2025 being hosted by the WSAA at the Cotton Tree Aquatic Centre Maroochydore, Queensland for the swim and luncheon/dinner venue to be the Maroochy RSL.

  • SCWSA Affiliation:

That affiliation with the South Coast Winter Swimming Association (S.C.W.S.A.) continue for this 2025 season. The venue for this year’s SCWSA Championships on Sunday 20 July 2025. The host club will be the Bulli Sea Lions WSC, at the Continental Pool, with the luncheon/dinner to be held at the Bulli Workers Club.

  • Invitational Carnival Affiliation:

That affiliation with the Invitational Swim Carnival continues for this 2025 season. The venue and date of this year’s Invitational Carnival will be the Bondi Icebergs Pool, quixotically held on the same Sunday 20 July 2025 as the SCWSA event.

  1. Election of New Life Member
  • Life membership of the Stanwell Park Sea Eels can be offered according to the following agreed qualifications:
  1. Ten years' membership of the Stanwell Park Sea Eels Winter Swimming Club
  2. Significant contribution to the Club
  3. Nominated and seconded by Club members
  4. Supported by three-quarter majority of attendees at AGM
  5. Voting to be by secret ballot with the ballots being destroyed after the vote
  6. Life Membership is offered at the rate of one new Life Member per winter swimming season

There was no successful nomination for Life Membership received in the reporting period.

  1. Presentation and Adoption of 2024 Annual Report
  • The President presented a Winter Swimming Annual Report for 2024, which was distributed for noting by members. The Winter Swimming Annual Report for the 2024 season will be submitted for inclusion in the Annual Report of the Helensburgh Stanwell Park Surf Life Saving Club Inc. for 2024/2025 as Attachment B, and it was proposed that this Annual Report be accepted:

  1. Presentation and Adoption of Financial Statements
  • The President read the Statement of Expenditure & Receipts for the period 01 April 2024 to 31 March 2025, (Attachment C).
  • The President advised that long-serving Treasurer Terry Wood was standing down. In Terry’s absence the President thanked Terry for his service over many years. It was proposed that the “Statement of Expenditure & Receipts “be accepted.

  • This Statement of Expenditure & Receipts was submitted for inclusion in the Annual Report of the Helensburgh Stanwell Park Surf Life Saving Club Inc. for 2024/2025.
  • The President gave special thanks to those members who have donated their time and efforts to the Friday Night Drinks, Surf Club cleaning and the Australia Day BBQ.
  1. Election of Office Bearers 2025 Season
  • The President declared all positions vacant and invited Margaret Hunt to act as Returning Officer. It was agreed that voting would be by show of hands.

  • Membership Fees

It was proposed that membership fees be retained at the rate of the 2023 season, i.e. $20.00 per individual, $40.00 per family, or $20.00 for Public Indemnity Insurance for club members who are not an Active members of the HSP SLSC.

It was proposed that the Club continues its annual swim meeting with the Bulli Sea Lions WSC.

The President advised that a trophy has been acquired for the Annual Sea Eels Cronulla RSL swim event.

It was proposed that the Club continues its annual swim with the Bondi Icebergs Ladies Swimmers.

  • Cram House Affiliation and Major Charity Status

It was proposed that the Club confirms its continued support of CRAM House as our Club’s major beneficiary. The President advised that he, Sandy McDonald and Rob Pugh had been hosted at one of the Cram House residences where they were shown the marvellous facilities, met the staff and residents, were provided a morning tea with some cakes in the colours of the Stanwell Park Sea Eels. They were impressed by the professionalism of the organisation and the happiness of the residents.
