CARNIVAL POINTS RECORDER
All children and or Age Managers are to report to the recorder on completion of an individuals/team event. This is to ensure all results are recorded correctly.
IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY as the recorder cannot be at every event at the same time.
Note: Points attained at team events at carnivals
will count towards the individual trophies as
the Committee feels that this will encourage members to compete more as a team not as Individuals. Where competitors receive points in Sydney Water Carnivals, their points will be allocated using the above point accruement table
not the Sydney Water point accruement method.
ALL AGE RELAY SELECTION FOR BRANCH AND STATE CARNIVALS
The All Age Relay consists of 7 members, one in each age group Under 8 to Under 14 running from youngest to oldest. The team will be chosen from results at both point score and Sydney Water carnivals (if competing). As these major carnivals approach the Beach Coaches, Team Manager and Age Managers will select a team to train together.
ALL AGE SELECTION FOR THE SYDNEY WATER SERIES
This relay differs in the sense that there are age groups from U8 to Masters, of which at least 4 members must be female. This team may vary greatly from the Branch and State team. Age Managers need to conduct run offs between boys and girls at point score prior to first carnival. If possible all age groups need to have 1 boy and 1 girl available for selection at carnivals in case of sickness etc. As above, from the names supplied by the Age Managers, the Beach Coaches and Team Manager will decide the composition of team based on availability, attendance at training and attitude.
MARCH PAST
The March Past is an event that is steeped in tradition. Initially designed as an event to allow Clubs to parade in their colours, it has become a very competitive spectacle with many Clubs contesting the honour of being March Past Champions.
Teams of 12 are judged on their ability to march correctly to a pre-determined drill around the main Carnival area. The March Past is as much a part of the Carnival as any other event adding colour, pomp, and pageantry, and it allows 'less competitive' members an opportunity to represent their Club.
The March Past White Team will be selected by the March Past coach on the basis of:
1. The individuals skills in the event
2. Being part of the team previously,
3. R&R involvement,
4. Attendance at Training,
5. Willing to participate in the March Past
6. Competing in the Blue team the previous season,
7. Seniority and Age
If there are enough children to field two teams then we will create a Blue team. All children are entitled to come to training for the Blue Team.
All Blue Team members will be selected on:
1. Their attendance at training and
2. Willingness to participate at all carnivals.
Blue Team members will be changed around to let everyone have a go if they meet these 2 requirements. If we have enough interested children we can put in a 3rd team a Red Team.
R & R (Rescue and Resuscitation)
This event enables both male and female members to compete together and on equal terms. It is a strict, set, disciplined event allowing team members to demonstrate their learned skills in
teamwork, rescue, patient assessment, resuscitation and patient recovery/care. The five person team event involves patient 'rescue' from the water and the two person event is conducted wholly upon the beach. Points are 'allocated' for a combination of time and method, the team with the lowest points at the finish winning this often described 'Blue Ribbon' event. This season the club will focus on the following R&R training and competition:
Ages U/10 - U/13 = 2 Person R&R
Many children have commented on how much doing R&R helped them with their Surf Rescue Certificate and their Bronze.
If your child is interested in either March Pass or R&R please contact the March Pass and/or R&R coaches
IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER THAT EACH CHILD IN THESE TEAMS PLAY A VITAL ROLE AS FAR AS THE TEAM IS CONCERNED AND WITHOUT THEIR PRESENCE AT TRAINING AND CARNIVALS THE TEAM CANNOT OPERATE SUCCESSFULLY.
TIPS FOR COMPETITORS
It is most important that all competitors remain in our tent area. At every Carnival we "lose" children - not permanently, but just when we want them for an event. Competitors must not leave our area without asking their Age Group Manager or Team Manager. Parents please co-operate with this rule. Also please ensure our Juniors have adequate clothing i.e.: club swimming costume, club swimming cap, shirt, hat etc and UV skin protection. Fluid intake is vital in these long days at the beach. Food is your responsibility; you can either bring it with you or purchase it from the host club's canteen. Please take into consideration what types of foods your children will consume, as it may affect their performance. (Always prefer a healthy option.)
