Helensburgh-Stanwell Park Life Saving Club is saddened to hear of the passing of Life Member Bryant Phillips on Sunday, 9 July 2017.
The 91 year lifesaver gained his Bronze Medallion on 06 January 1963. Bryant was Club Captain for 4 years from 1963, and awarded Life Membership in 1976.
He was heavily involved with the Seagulls in their formative years, with his son Will Phillips being one of the first Nippers in the club. During his time with the Seagulls he trained R&R Teams as well as helping to transition younger members from the Nippers to the Senior Club.
For Helensburgh residents in the 1980's, Bryant was the Pool Lifeguard for a number of years.
Bryant recently moved into a nursing home with his wife Phyllis, he has suffered from ill health for a number of years. The thoughts of fellow club members are with his wife, his son Will, Will's wife Alice, and grandchildren Russell and Vanessa all of whom have been members of the club over the years.
The family will be celebrating Bryant's life on Sunday, 23 July 2017 at Helensburgh-Stanwell Park Surf Life Saving Club following the club's Annual General Meeting (approx. 12noon). All members are welcome to attend and share some memories.
