2012/13 KNG Series Trial this weekend SLSA welcomes spectators to come and support the athletes competing in the Kellogg's Nutri-Grain Series Trials over the weekend at Tugun Beach in Queensland. Competition kicks off at 8:00 am on Saturday and 9:00 on Sunday. Join the crowd as some of this country's greats go head to head in this trail round of ironman racing. Find out more >>

National Pool Championships a success More than 400 entrants from 48 Surf Life Saving clubs around Australia and a development team from NZ met in Adelaide from August 17-19 to battle it out for the title of National Pool Rescue Champions. Maroochydore Surf Life Saving Club won the overall national title on 223 points following an action packed three days of competition at the South Australia Aquatic & Leisure Centre in Adelaide. Paddling Development Clinics 11 Clinics were held through the winter months and over 300 members took part in the coach and athlete development sessions. These Clinics are run with the support of Australian Canoeing and are all about providing access to their paddling expertise to improve our own surf performances. Australian Canoeing Talent ID testing Australian Canoeing has just finished its Talent ID testing for 2012. Testing was held in eight locations around Australia, with some great new talent being unearthed. Surf athletes were strongly encouraged to attend this testing as there due to the undeniable similarities between paddling a surf ski and sprint kayaking. Testament to this, the K4 crew who bought home Olympic Gold in London in the sprint kayaking, all clubbies and surf ski athletes. Over 140 surf athletes registered and 80 of these athletes attended testing. Each attending athlete will shortly receive a letter from Australian Canoeing with feedback and their results. Rowing Australia Talent ID testing Talent ID testing was recently held in Newcastle, Port Macquarie and Maclean. Surf athletes that met the height requirements were encouraged to attend the trails and test for selection. Unfortunately, despite there being no selections this time around, there was great potential on display and all trailing athletes were encouraged to try out again next year.
